The Ashtabula Distance Runners Club is seeking club members who may have an interest to serve on the ADR Board for a two-year term starting in January. If you are interested, please contact Nominating Committee Chair Marty Raffensberger (martindraff@gmail.com) or send an email to express your interest to ashtabuladistancerunners@gmail.com by January 3, 2026.
ADR membership for 2026 will also open in mid-December at some point after the Jingle Bell 3 Miler on Saturday Dec. 6 at 9 AM. Stay tuned for details.
A reminder the ADR Grand Prix Series wraps up with the conclusion of the Jingle Bell 3 Mile.
To qualify for the premium – what it is will be announced at later date – to be awarded at the banquet in January, ADR Club members must have completed at least 6 of the 8 club races. For those who volunteered at one of the Club races, you receive credit for one race.
The ADR Club races were: Shamrock 2 Mile, Memorial Day 5K, Greenway 10K/2 Mile, Indian Trails Adventure Run, Run for Your Life Endurance Challenge, Bridge 2 Bridge 5K, Bridge 2 Bridge Half Marathon, and the upcoming Jingle Bell.
Here is the list of Club members who have completed ADR Club races, so please check your results for accuracy. Contact a board member with any discrepancies. Anyone with 6 or more has already qualified for the premium. Anyone who has 5 at this point will qualify by completing the Jingle Bell 3 Miler. In other words, if you have 5 now and don’t complete the Jingle Bell race, you don’t qualify for the premium.
The Ashtabula Distance Runners Board is pleased to announce the start of the seven year of the ADR-sponsored community running program named “Run for Your Life” to use running to help men and women in recovery from chemical dependence.
The fall season of the 2025 Run for Your Life program begins Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6:00 pm.
Run for Your Life involves participants as assisted through the Lake Area Recovery Center (LARC) and staying at Turning Point and New Beginnings. The program consists of men and women group runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 6:00 at the Donohue Center complex in Ashtabula Township, just to the east of Home Depot.
ADR is looking for volunteers to help lead the group runs. Can you help? If you are interested, and we hope you are, please contact John Hutchison via Facebook, or email at hutchjohn33@yahoo.com or phone at 440-339-6892 so we can get you on the schedule. You can help once a week or more or whatever fits your schedule.
During each session, the group runs are split into two groups during which time men participants run with at least two men volunteer leaders and women participants run with at least two women volunteer leaders. We complete laps that are almost a half mile each around the Donohue Center complex.
Each workout lasts for roughly 30 minutes, using a C25K app on mobile devices for guidance, with mostly walking in the beginning of the program and gradually replacing walking with some running.
Participants will complete the program Sunday Oct. 19 at 6 pm with the 30 minute run or walk.
If you’ve been looking for a way for running to help you give back to others and make a difference, this is your opportunity. We could use your help to continue this program!
