The Ashtabula Distance Runners Club would like to invite you all to a dedication ceremony on May 14, 2016, for the Bill Bodnar Memorial. We will be dedicating a bench to be anchored at Point Park in the Ashtabula Harbor. The event will begin at 11 a.m.
Following an unveiling and several speakers, everyone is welcome to join us for a short run down to Bridge Street and back in Bill’s memory.

Many of you have completed at least six of our Ashtabula Distance Runners Grand Prix races this year and earned a free dinner at our annual banquet Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. John High School. The event will start at 6 p.m. To RSVP, please click HERE for the online Event Registration. You can also purchase guest tickets at this link.
Please see below for a list of banquet qualifiers if you are unsure of whether you completed enough races this year.
As stated, your dinner is free, but if you wish to bring a guest that has not qualified, they are welcome at a cost of $13 per person to cover the dinner. This year we are requiring pre-payment for guests, and RSVP for qualifiers (online by evite is fine) and need to have payment, or confirmation in hand by January 2, 2016 to guarantee a spot at the dinner.
We hope you can join us for an evening of fun and fellowship. There will be awards for overall and age group winners. Checks for guests should be made out to Ashtabula Distance Runners. Again the deadline for confirmation of on line registration or by mail with guest is January 2, 2016. The dinner will also serve as the club’s annual business meeting and is open to members (paying full cost).

We have thought long and hard about how to honor our friend, coach, mentor, cheerleader, father and brother-in-sport: Bill Bodnar. We’d like to announce our goal of raising funds for two memorial benches. One is to be placed at Point Park (final location to be determined but discussions with the city have tentative agreement that it will be up on the look out platform somewhere) and a second bench on the Greenway Trail. The Ashtabula Distance Runner’s Club is growing fast! Next year will be a big step for the club as we transition our financial structure from receiving account support from the YMCA to a stand alone non-profit organization. During that transition there are some positions on the ADR board that may remain the same from 2014 to 2015, to insure we start off our first independent year on good footing, however if you have interest in serving on a committee or serving as one of the four at-large voting members on the board, please review the outline of time commitments below and submit your name and level of interest.
ADR board members meet once a month for the majority of the year. In late July we begin meeting more frequently in order to plan and prepare for the Bridge2Bridge race. Meetings occur twice a month until October and then we meet once a week until the race. Meetings typically take place on Wednesdays at 7 or 7:15pm at various locations in Ashtabula.
In addition to the Bridge2Bridge Half marathon and 5K in October, ADR sponsors and manages four races a year as “club races”:
Shamrock 2 miler – March
Greenway 2 mile and 10K – June
Indian Trails Adventure Run – July
Jingle Bell 3 miler – December
Board members are expected to assist in planning and managing aspects of these races, that DOES NOT mean you can not run them.
